L is for Lorna Doones

Plural. The shortbread cookies. It may say Lorna Doone on the box, but I’ve never eaten just one.

And I’ve never read the (singular) book.

When we worked together, on particularly rough days, Dana and I would do a line o’Lornas.

I'm a filling cookie kinda guy. Besides, I always start chuckling when I see Lorna Doones in the store, since all I can think about is the famous Three Stooges episode in which Shemp meets the famous character and says, "Hey Lorna, How ya do'in?"

Funny! Is there a 12-step program for this type of thing?

They must be one of those things not available in Canada. Or maybe I haven't looked hard enough - I'll have to remember them next grocery day.

I've never eaten a Lorna Doone - kind of surprised they are still around.

You have me curious now.

They're not as good as real shortbread, of course. But they fill a need...

fbh: They might be good with jello! Tonight someone brought Thin Mints to my house for dessert...

I can do a line o'Thin Mints. Especially if they've been in the freezer.

Lornas are good at work with tea. Walkers is a little better as a shortbread. Nothing beats getting up to your elbows in butter and making your own!

JHK: I could do a line o'thin mints too! Someone recently brought a box to my house as dessert, which was great, because I don't seem to get hit up by girl scouts anymore. Tim threw them in the fridge.

Walker's is a real shortbread cookie! But it costs a lot more, and they don't really sell them in lines.
