R is for Roller Derby Name

For Helen and Deloney

I’ve given it a lot of thought, and still, in light of the brilliance that has already occurred in roller derby names (see R is for Roller Derby), I’ve managed to come up with only one. So, for the roller derby life that exists only in my mind, I will hereby be known as:

Bella Coast

Warlike and fast. Breezy, even. Kick some ass and look good doing it.

How cool! I'll don Roller Derby Grrl drag and call myself Rhoda Ruin. (Though don't think I could improve on Leif Mia Lone!)

My sister (24) keeps looking at the recruitment poster at her work for the Arch City Roller Girls or whatever they're called. She could do it. She even has a name, which I can't recall, but right in line with all these...she just can't quite make the leap.

Rhoda: We'll make a great team.

B: She should do it. I'll live vicariously.

H: I don't think I could pull off that particular look (and I need something a tad more badass), but thanks for the hot tip. One question: Where are the fishnet stockings? (sold separately?)

My Scottish grandmother used to like watching the roller derby on tv. That woman could shout with the best of them.

Speaking of shouting, WHERE'S YOUR NEW BLOG, HELEN?

IT'S COMING (at some point :) ); I signed up for a religious studies course this term, and am presently exhausted by my efforts to explain the path to enlightenment.

Helen: Please do explain the path to enlightenment.

Roller Derby's are a complete mystery to this South Pacific girl, but I love the name for whatever purpose!!

Indigo, it seems to involve finding a charnel ground somewhere and meditating on putrefying flesh. I need to buy a better shovel and sneak over to our neighbourhood park, which conveniently also happened to be a cemetary in earlier times, to help me in my quest to become enlightened.

Mrs. Slocombe: No no! This is what a double chin and badly trimmed goatee looks like:
